The updated 2025 Nissan Armada has been on the streets for a little while now, but it continues to rack up positive reviews and impressions from the media and owners. The Drive recently drove the SUV, praising it for its much-improved driving experience, interior, and tech. Here’s a rundown of their thoughts. 

Nissan made news when it announced that the new Armada would ditch its long-running V8 engine in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6. While some enthusiasts might be disappointed with the move, the smaller V6’s power delivery and performance improve on the outgoing V8. The Drive noted the engine’s smoothness and refinement, saying that the power improvement over the V8 is notable. The new engine makes 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, a boost of 25 horsepower and 103 pound-feet.  

Towing is strong with the new engine, with some Armada configurations rated to tow up to 8,500 pounds. The SUV’s braking, handling, and general performance are also strong, with a trailer in tow. Off-roading was a breeze, thanks to the Pro-4X trim’s 11.5 inches of ground clearance, which gives it a steep 33-degree approach angle. It also sports 33-inch Yokohama Geolandar tires, giving it excellent stability and grip in the dirt.  

The interior updates made the Armada feel more upscale and premium than before. The Drive praised its excellent tech and interior quality, including its screens, which include a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch gauge cluster. Higher trims move to dual 14.3-inch screens, but all models retain physical controls for the climate and other settings, making it easier to change the temperature or other updates without much hassle. 

These updates have made the Armada even more competitive with a fierce class of rivals. The Drive favorably compared the Nissan to the Chevrolet Tahoe, Jeep Wagoneer, and GMC Yukon, noting that the Armada is less expensive and just as well-equipped as most of the field.  

The 2025 Nissan Armada starts at $56,520 for the base SV trim. The SL model starts at $62,970, and the Platinum costs $69,930. Stepping up to the off-road-ready Pro-4X trim pushes the price to $73,740, while the top Platinum Reserve trim costs $76,990 to start. Nissan offers a few added-cost options, such as the ProPilot Assist 2.1 package for $3,300 on some trims, but the most desirable features are included with various trim levels. That said, there is a wide range of accessories available, including roof racks and towing components.
