The 2025 Nissan Armada vs the Competition
As the newest member of Nissan’s SUV family, the 2025 Armada offers more passenger space and versatility than ever. Plus, the improved ride quality and new driveline are welcome changes for families looking for a vehicle that can do everything you ask it to.
Also new for 2025 is the off-road-ready PRO-4X version, which has the maximum capability to go anywhere. The Platinum Reserve redefines luxury in this segment with a high level of technology and comfort.
The Armada also features ProPILOT Assist across the lineup. On higher trims, this is upgraded to ProPILOT Assist 2.1. With this feature, you can take your hands off the wheel and your feet off the pedals while it assists with steering, acceleration, and braking. It also uses Navi-Link to ensure you and your Armada are locked in on your route while assisting with lane changes. A Driver Attention Alert reads you to ensure you concentrate on the road.
How well does the Nissan Armada compare against the competition?
Nissan Armada vs Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe comes from a long line of large SUVs that have carried families for 90 years. One can recognize a Tahoe from miles away, as it has served many purposes outside family transportation, from public safety to chauffeured transportation. It is available in both rear- and four-wheel drive. There is a choice of engines on the 2025 Tahoe, including a turbocharged in-line six-cylinder diesel.
- The Tahoe comes with standard V8 gasoline power, along with a diesel option. Neither of these engines match the low-end torque available on the Armada’s twin-turbocharged V6 engine at 516 pound-feet of torque.
- The Armada PRO-4X offers more off-road capability than any Tahoe available. Its standard set of all-terrain tires gives the PRO-4X an advantage when you need to go off the highway.
- Nissan offers an elevated cabin design and driver ergonomics with the 2025 Armada. The dual 14.3-inch screens not only provide all the information you need but are also positioned for maximum driver attention to the road. The instrument cluster display on the Armada is much clearer to read and easier to customize than the Tahoe’s.
- The 2025 Armada has a greater maximum tow rating of 8,500 pounds compared to the comparable Tahoe’s 8,200 pounds.
- Pricing for the 2025 Armada is less expensive than the comparable Tahoe, with an average savings of $2,000 per trim.
Nissan Armada vs Toyota Sequoia
The Toyota Sequoia is a large SUV based on a common truck platform. Powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid driveline, it can seat up to eight people. A variety of trim levels are available, including an off-road version. The Sequoia is available in two—and four-wheel drive.
- When it comes to driver assistance technology, Nissan has the advantage. The Armada’s available ProPILOT Assist 2.1 gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road. This next-level driver assistance technology is not available on the Sequoia.
- The Armada also offers a Driver Attention Alert to keep you focused on driving. You can also upgrade to Active Monitoring, which is a part of ProPILOT Assist 2.1. Toyota does not offer any of these features in the Sequoia.
- Pricing for the 2025 Armada is less expensive than the comparable Sequoia, with an average savings of $5,000 per trim.
- Premium audio systems have become a part of vehicles in this size class. The Armada offers an available 12-speaker Klipsch premium audio system with a clean and immersive sound throughout the cabin. The Sequoia offers a premium audio system, but not on the level of clarity as in the Klipsch system.
Nissan Armada vs Ford Expedition
The 2025 Expedition is all new. It is also a showcase for innovations that are designed to offer the latest technology, passenger comfort, and cargo management. With EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 power, the Expedition has a proven engine that turns solid fuel economy. It is available in two- and four-wheel drive.
- Ford offers only a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid driveline with two power ratings. The Armada’s twin-turbocharged V6 offers more standard torque, at 516 pound-feet – more than any of the engines available on the Expedition.
- The Expedition’s new dashboard has a very contemporary design. Does it make driving easier? The Armada offers a straightforward driving environment with large 14.3-inch screens that are easy to read and use. Plus, the Armada has tactile controls and a larger steering wheel located where you need them. These make driving the Armada easier.
- While the Expedition offers its Multi-Function Split Gate, nothing compares to the convenience of loading luggage or major shopping right at the bumper with the Armada’s one-piece liftgate. The lower and closer-in load/unload area is much easier to use.
- For an immersive experience inside the cabin, you can select the available Klipsch premium audio system. This system, from the suppliers of loudspeakers to professional studios, features DJX surround sound technology through 12 strategically placed speakers. It offers the cleanest, immersive sound of any vehicle in its size and price class.
Nissan Armada vs Jeep Wagoneer
The newest Wagoneer combines luxurious design with traditional Jeep capability. It is available in two—and four-wheel drive and is powered by a twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine.
- The Wagoneer only offers one engine—the Hurricane twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine. The Armada’s twin-turbocharged V6 offers more standard torque, 516 pound-feet, which is more than the Jeep’s.
- Nissan offers an elevated cabin design and driver ergonomics with the 2025 Armada. The dual 14.3-inch screens not only give you all the information you need, but they are also positioned to maximize driver attention to the road. Jeep does not offer screens in these sizes. The Armada’s instrument cluster screen has more information using larger and easily readable displays.
- When it comes to off-road capability, one expects that the Jeep would be better. You can upgrade a Wagoneer with all-terrain tires and a package with enhanced suspension, but it is no match for the new Armada PRO-4X. The PRO-4X was engineered to go further off the highway with specific long-travel suspension made for better articulation and terrain management.
- Nissan leads in driver assistance technology. The available ProPILOT Assist 2.1 gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road. This technology is not available on the Wagoneer.
- The Armada also offers a Driver Attention Alert to keep you focused on driving. On higher trims, you can upgrade to Active Monitoring, which is part of ProPILOT Assist 2.1. This feature is also not available on the Jeep.
- Pricing for the 2025 Armada is less expensive than the comparable Wagoneer—a savings of $3,000 on average per trim.
Nissan Armada vs Lexus LX
The Armada and Lexus both share a full-size truck chassis and twin-turbocharged V-6 engine drivetrains. As a non-luxury brand vs. a luxury brand, the Armada is easily found to be a better model for the money, but it is also easily argued that the Armada is a better luxury SUV regardless of price.
- The price difference is massive. The flagship Armada Platinum Reserve 4WD’s MSRP is $79,990, while the base Lexus LX starts at $92,565.
- The base model Lexus LX does not have a standard or available third row. To get the third row on the LX, one must opt for the Premium trim, which has a starting MSRP of $100,515. Even so, the Lexus will only seat seven, while the Armada can be configured to seat eight.
- Armada outpowers the LX. The Armada’s 425 horsepower is greater than the LX’s 409 hp. Also, the Armada’s 516 lb-ft of torque is significantly greater than the LX’s 479 lb-ft.
- Even with its base model costing $47,520, the Armada features a 14.3-inch center touchscreen, compared to the 7-inch screen on the base LX. The larger screen on higher LX models still falls short of the Armada, at 12.3 inches.
- The Armada provides significantly more cargo space than the LX in all configurations.
- With all seats up (including the available third row for the LX), the Armada has 20.4 cubic feet vs. 11.0 for the LX.
- Third-row seat down: 56.3 vs. 44.0 cubic feet.
- Second- and third-row seats down: 97.1 vs. 64.0 cubic feet.
- You buy a full-size SUV for its spacious interior. The Armada has more interior space in every important metric, including more rear leg room (39.2 vs. 36.6 inches), more third-row legroom (when applicable: 32.9 vs. 31.1 inches), and more shoulder room in the first row (64.2 vs. 61.4 inches), second row (63.7 vs. 58.8 inches), and third row (when applicable: 63.1 vs. 56.1 inches).
- The available ProPILOT Assist 2.1 gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road, with true hands-free and feet-free automated highway driving available on the Armada but not available on any Lexus LX.
- There is an almost endless number of features on the flagship Armada Platinum reserve that you don’t get on the base, but are available on a more costly Lexus LX model trim. Just to name a few:
- Klipsch 11-speaker audio system (no premium brand audio for base LX).
- Digital rearview camera.
- Standard front, side, and rear recording cameras.
- Ventilated and massaging front seats
- 12-way power driver and front passenger seats (vs. 10 & 8-way).
- More versatile 40-20-40-split second row folding rear seatbacks vs. 60-40.
- Self-leveling suspension.
- Trailer back guidance, brake controller, and Towe/Haul driving mode.
