Nissan Puts its Best Foot Forward with the All-New Armada

The 2025 Nissan Armada has been getting a lot of press lately. In particular, the new Pro-4X model addition to the Armada lineup has attracted new customers to this off-road capable grade. Recently, Car and Driver had one in for review and came away with some thoughts on our off-road capable large SUV.  

Right off the bat, the Car and Driver team described the 2025 Armada Pro-4X by stating it “has major curb presence. With the standard air springs at full mast, the SUV’s towering 80.1-inch silhouette stands nearly as tall as Shaquille O’Neal. Its chiseled fascia, burnished with red recovery hooks seemingly ready to pull a freighter out of Lake Superior, affords it an approach angle of 33.0 degrees. A break-over angle of 25.5 degrees, a 24.5-degree departure angle, and 9.6 inches of ground clearance are all measurements at or near the head of the class.” 

A lot of praise so far, if you ask us.  

That praise comes from their feedback on the new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that now powers all 2025 Armadas. With 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque available through your right foot, the Armada can get up and go. Car and Driver clocked it at 5.9 seconds from 0-60 MPH and accomplished the quarter mile at 14.4 seconds at 98 MPH. Numbers like that may not mean much to a lot of us. However, they do indicate that you can make passing maneuvers and manage traffic on the highway with ease.  

Car and Driver also cited the “spacious and quiet cabin.” They even described the Pro-4X cabin as “lavish.” The 2025 Armada can seat up to eight people. The quiet cabin was measured at a 64-decibel reading while cruising at 70 MPG, which is considered quiet in today’s automobiles.  

An off-road capable vehicle must offer good ride quality both on the tarmac as well as the dirt. On the Pro-4X, that is accomplished through a set of 20-inch alloy wheels riding on all-terrain tires.  

There is more to the 2025 Armada Pro-4X. For off-road prowess, Nissan adds an adaptive electronic air suspension that is adjustable for ride height to manage obstacles on the surface. For more terrain management, a locking rear differential is added. Plus, the added protection of underbody metal skid plates.  

You can also see how your 2025 Armada Pro-4X is doing through the terrain with specific readouts in the center of the 14.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Over at the 14.3-inch infotainment touch screen, multiple camera views are available, including the Invisible Hood View, which shows items one cannot see ahead and below.  

In summary, Car and Driver stated that the 2025 Armada Pro-4X is “leaps and bounds improvement over the outgoing [model].”
