Nissan Murano Platinum Bumps Up Against Luxury Competitors

The Nissan Murano has always been seen as a premium SUV. Designed with premium touches and a stand-out exterior style, it is often compared to similarly sized vehicles from some of the more discriminating brands. This is why the Murano attracts accomplished and successful clients—and those who want to be accomplished and successful. 

In a recent video review by Tom Voelk’s Driven Car Reviews, the 2025 Nissan Murano Platinum AWD was proven to be an exceptional all-season two-row SUV. He stated that his test put the Murano through all four seasons in a matter of days.  

There was a lot of praise for its design by Voelk.  For example, he likes the Murano’s “fresh exterior design.” The front end reminded him of a classic Ferrari. In all, Voelk said that the exterior made it feel like a “party in the back, business up front.” 

In the back, the liftgate opens with a button positioned so it will not get dirty. Once open, you can fold down the rear seats for up to 63.5 cubic feet of space. Voelk did a cargo capacity test using 30 roll packages of toilet paper. He was able to fit eight of those packages, with a possibility of a ninth if need be.  

Interior-wise, Voelk remarked that the Murano Platinum offered a “soothing space.” Both front and rear seats now have zero gravity technology. He said the seating surfaces have a “fresh, clean look” and are very comfortable. Voelk also found the rear seat headroom was “good,” the leg and knee room “generous” and the floor was “nice and flat.” Moreover, he stated that “three average adults will be comfortable” in the rear seats. Access through the rear doors opens to nearly 90 degrees. 

For the driver, Voelk appreciated the Murano’s natural voice commands. He said they “worked very well.” So well that it even found a few glass-blowing places near Voelk’s location. 

The Murano is equipped with NissanConnect and Google Built-in, where voice commands can go through Google Assistant. On the same 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, you have a multitude of camera views. Voelk called out the invisible hood view as one of the camera views drivers will enjoy the most. He also remarked that the Murano was “real easy to see out of” with its large windshield.   

All 2025 Muranos are powered by the new 241-horsepower 2.0-liter variable compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Voelk appreciated the balance of “power and efficiency” of the new engine. Even better, he raved about the nine-speed automatic transmission with “real ratios.” Shifts were observed to be “smooth and crisp,” and the all-wheel drive system was “secure off the line.” In all, the Murano exhibited a “very good balance between comfort and sport,” according to Voelk.  

In summary, Voelk stated that the 2025 Murano was “a big improvement” over previous generations. He remarked that it “blurs the line between mainstream and luxury transportation. It is not a wallflower that blends in. It has character and personality…the right kind of drama,” just as you expect in a premium vehicle – such as the 2025 Murano.
