This is why J.D. Power named the Nissan Kicks and Murano as the top segment leaders in the 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. The Kicks was named the Most Dependable Small SUV, while the Murano takes the honor as the Most Dependable Midsize SUV. Both of these awards were based on vehicles from the 2022 model year. 

In its 36th year, the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study is conducted by surveying owners of three-year-old vehicles. The survey looks at 184 potential problem areas across nine categories. The categories include climate, controls and displays, driving assistance, exterior, features, infotainment, interior, powertrain, seats, and the driving experience. The results showed that the 2022 Kicks and Murano scored higher than average in their respective segments.  

The survey’s results tell two stories for consumers. One is a look back at three-year-old models to see how well they have held up over time based on ownership experiences. This will determine the kind of resale potential and value they will have when they become available for sale through our Certified Pre-Owned program or in our used car inventory. 

The other story is how our current models will hold up for their customers in the coming years. To know a vehicle’s track record of dependability from a few years back is to know what to expect from that model. That helps determine the future of that vehicle when it comes to upkeep and maintenance, as well as its future resale value.
