2025 Nissan Pathfinder Earns Top Crash Test Rating from IIHS

Keeping you safe is a top priority at Nissan. We build active, passive, and driver assistance safety into every one of our vehicles. The effectiveness of these systems is proven when the vehicles are crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. For 2025, IIHS awarded our mid-size three-row SUV Pathfinder its TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation. This is the highest rating the organization gives to any vehicle it crash tests.  

To pass these crash tests, each vehicle must meet a very stringent criteria as set by the IIHS. In 2024, the IIHS updated its moderate overlap front crash test by including a second dummy (representing a small adult or 12-year child) seated behind the driver in the second row. It enables the IIHS to properly evaluate the impact on that seat based on injury risk and data.  

Further testing is given to small overlap front, updated side impact, pedestrian front crash prevention, and headlamp tests. A “good” rating in all of these crash test areas will earn the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating for that specific vehicle.  

The 2025 Pathfinder earned this designation with its extensive set of safety features. Every trim level gets Nissan Safety Shield 360 and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning standard. These features alone create a complete sense of protection even in the instance of a collision—not just up front, but all around. That is why you will find a full complement of airbags and structural reinforcement throughout the Pathfinder.  

On SV and Rock Creek grades, you get the ProPILOT Assist suite of advanced driver assistance features, including the Intelligent Around View Monitor, which gives you views of your surroundings no matter which direction you are going.  

Once you get into the SL and Platinum grades, that becomes the ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link. This technology enables you to be confident on the road as your Pathfinder keeps you centered in the lane at your set speed. Navi-Link uses GPS technology to make sure that your Pathfinder manages anything along the way, including curves and highway junctions. It can also automatically slow down your Pathfinder in traffic. In all, expect a smooth, comfortable, and safe ride from your Pathfinder.  

The best part of the 2025 Pathfinder is its overall value. In fact, Nissan has lowered the base prices of all Pathfinder grades. Price reductions on the base MSRPs range from $670 to $1,170, depending on grade.
